The Queensland Government has approved a new car rental scheme in the southern suburb of Bait and Catch.
The Government will fund the project, with up to 30 per cent of the rental revenue going to the Bait Bakers Field Community Services Agency, the Government said in a statement.
The Bait Bayers Community Services Association (BBSCA) has been contracted to manage the car rental program.
“The car rental industry is an integral part of BBSCA’s core mission to provide services to the community, providing a range of affordable car rental services to those who cannot afford to travel,” it said in the statement.
BBSCAs car rental service has already been used by more than 500 people, the association said.
“The BBSCAS Car Rental service is a proven solution to the growing car rental crisis in BBSAC,” it added.BBSAC said its car rental operation had been in operation since August 2016 and had delivered more than 20,000 rental car trips to people from other states and overseas.
The Government has committed $2.5 million over five years to support the BBSCCA’s car rental business.
