The shooting death of a man who authorities say was shot by his neighbor’s car rental company appears to be an act of self-defense, according to an investigation into the shooting.
Savannah-Chatham Police Chief Charles M. Smith said Tuesday that the shooting occurred Thursday morning at a rental car business.
Smith said the shooting was “immediately taken care of” by officers.
The police department did not provide details about the circumstances of the shooting or the suspect.
In a statement, the rental car company said in a statement that it is “deeply saddened” by the loss of its employee.
“We offer our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the employee who was shot and killed in Savannah,” the statement read.
