Georgia has one of the highest car rental rates in the U.S. and a growing number of drivers are choosing to rent a vehicle for the first time.
The cost of a car rental in Georgia ranges from about $6,000 for a midsize sedan to $30,000 or more for a luxury vehicle.
While some people may prefer to rent from a car dealership, others find themselves choosing to pay the rent online through an online service like AutoRental.com.
The Georgia Department of Transportation is offering drivers who want to rent vehicles for the next two years free rental permits through a program called the Car Rental Program.
“This is an opportunity for Georgia drivers to rent their vehicles and get behind the wheel,” said DOT Secretary Scott D. Whitehead in a press release.
“The program is meant to allow the leasing community to take advantage of a growing supply of cars available to rent through our rental system.”
In addition to providing free car rentals, Georgia DOT also offers incentives for leasing and other incentives that could include free gas, discounted vehicle maintenance and extended warranties.
